Turkeys, Turkeys Everywhere

My sweet niece Mackenzie saw this great turkey project in a book at the library. So she checked it out and has been waiting to make it until Lexie & I got to Texas. I usually do some craft project when I'm with the kids and she proudly picked this one. Great job Z!!!

And yes we both know this is NOT a turkey but it was as close as she could get to a Turkey Hat.

Here are my helpers - CoCo & Blakie

Lexie Lou & Chicken Z

Not too far into the project we lost one of our BOY helpers but Cody worked twice as hard to make up for Blake.

Both the girls worked hard even if they were silly a lot.

Since this was supposed to be a surprise for Thanksgiving we were trying to keep the adults out of the kitchen (I don't count as an adult - lucky me!!!) We caught Unkle Jim-Jim/Daddy trying to spy on us!

After about an hour of hard work Grandma decided my helpers needed a break (notice that Blake became a helper again as soon as sweets were involved) so she had them help her put the finishing touch of powered sugar on her brownies.

She got lots of help from Blake but I'm afraid Lexie was so famished from all that hard crafting that she did a lot more tasting then helping.

When I came into the kitchen and saw Lexie covered with powered sugar I asked the big kids what happened and this is their innocent response. Note Blake in the background "cleaning up" the counter.

Lexie thought she was sooooo funny and so did Blake!

After cleaning up THAT mess (thanks Mom) I got the kids back to finishing up the project.

And here they are.....all 14 Turkey Hand Toilet Roll Napken Holders for the Thanksgiving Day table. We ended up with a pirate (since we were shy a couple of eyes) and a one eyed monster but I think they look fabulous!
Great Idea Mackenzie!!!

Alexis in Texas

So Lexie and I headed down south to spend Thanksgiving with some of our family in Texas. Here she is with two of her Texas cousins Cody & Mackenzie. Can you see the love on her face?

Whenever these guys get together there is always plenty of "dancing"...

and piggyback rides (yes my princess must bring her princess gown with her every where)...

and even little Blake (who just turned 2 in Oct and out weighs Lexie by 3 lbs) has to get in on the fun!

They are also a very creative group. Here BooBoo (AKA Aunt Angie) and Cody where having a little telephone conversation while Z was setting up a rousing game of El-E-Phant!

I'm not sure who caught the butterflies but clearly they are working on a new hat craze.

Even Grandma had to make a call.

Then after everyone is in their jammies they have to get a "Cody" ride around the room before they will consider heading to bed.

He finally gets up on all fours but it doesn't last long.

Here's Cody trying to switch places with Lexie and get a ride from her. Clearly there's something wrong with this picture.

Finally they are winding down and it's time for prayers with GaGa. What sweet angles!

I've gotta tell you there wasn't a lot of bed time story reading going on in this bed when I came in to tuck Lexie in!

More of the trip later.

How My Baby Has Grown!

This morning as I watched Lexie play her piano I realized how much she's grown and certainly how much she's outgrown this toy!! Can she really be 3 1/2?!?

Here she is a year and a half ago at 22 months soon after she got it for Christmas. Both her little feet don't even touch the ground.

As you can see here, not only do her feet touch the ground but she has to almost kneel to play. Of course she's as silly as ever since she's pretending to sing with her ear!

I can't believe she was this little (and had so few teeth) just a year and a half ago!

I wonder what the next 18 months will bring?

Life of a Pilgrim

Lexie brought this work of art home from school and told me this is "life of a pilgrim." You'll note her newest fascination with....uh cats. Yes, that's it, cats!

New Blog Look & Title

I've noticed that the last 3 times I've posted that the new blog title/look haven't shown up so I'm trying once again to see what's up. I am clueless as to what the problem is or even how to contact Blogger to fix it. So if anyone reads this and can help, I'd love to hear from you. If not, I'll just keep writing to myself.

Oh yeah, it seems I have a third dog now....Poka Dot!

Calling Doctor Lexie

My funny girl was at it again. Lexie was eating dinner and Kit & Kaboodle where hoovering as usual hoping for an "accident" from Lexie. In passing I said that Kaboodle didn't look like she was feeling very well.

That's all that it took....Dr. Lexie to the rescue! She ran to get her "tel-a-scoop" to check Kaboodle out.

As you can see it was a full exam and Kaboodle was a real trooper!

When Kit saw that Kaboodle was getting so much attention he had to try to get in on the action.

And you'll be happy to know that Dr. Lexie declared Boo "all better!"

Have no fear though. By the time I was getting Lexie ready for bed she was back to her true identity - Princess Lexie Lou! She even managed to turn her crown into a mask & her drumstick into a wand.

Here she is finally ready for sweet dreams.

And yes, I do make her take the crown off before she gets in her bed.

A Phone Call to Mickey

This evening after picking Lexie up from her pre-school, I had to return to my office to finish some work. Lexie actually loves coming to work with me and visiting with everyone so she's very comfortable around the office. I was in the back resource room sending out a quick email when Lexie picks up the phone and says "Hello, Mickey Mouse? Where are you? I want to see you on this TV" pointing to the computer screen. When nothing happened she hung up, then picked it up the phone again and said "Goofy will you get Mickey Mouse on the TV -PLEASE!"
I'm still laughing!
